I found this a little surprising myself, even though I'd definitely expect it to matter *more* for women, but BMI only has a strong effect on women's attractiveness and success in speed-dates from what I've seen.
Yeah muscularity could obfuscate things to an extent, but BMI still correlates extremely highly with body fat for men.
But yeah, physically attractiveness seems less make or break than brain issues. The way I see it is that it is a pretty strong factor in determining the attractiveness of the partners you can expect to get with, but when it comes to determining whether you'll be able to have any at all, brain factors dominate.
Even friendships. When I moved into a city, I went to bar meet ups. There were a couple guys I talked to and found the whole interaction strange and mildly off-putting. Afterwards, I realized they were probably autistic.
Many obvious facts of life require no analysis or “bearing out”. Just look/listen for 10 seconds to the real world. I dunno. Once a boy is identified as autistic, the training to get him a girlfriend should begin asap. I am absolutely serious, we gotta do something. Like, off to trade school/boot camp, a government funded auntie matchmaking service in schools, a finishing school for autistic gentlemen, get him to learn ONE practical skill (cooking, lawn care anything). And NO SCREENS AT SCHOOL FOR AUTISTIC BOYS THIS IS CRAZY THEY CAN USE SCREENS AT HOME AND LATER AS ADULTS WTF ARE WE DOING TO THESE KIDS.
Take these guys, add, no raise them on "porn" (and the fact that all women now assume they're using it) and you have....the undatables. Men's rep is repellent to women now. Before they assumed you had some integrity, at least until you made a mistake. Now its like - prove you're not scum. That's hard to do when you're weird, and have spent too much time online. Ya'll are in trouble. OMG and find someone while you're young if you can!

Honestly being short doesn’t make it too tough unless you have dwarfism and there’s no local conventions
Being out of shape is worse for dating than being facially ugly (based on statistics I’ve read)
But social skills and having a social circle are necessities (which autistic people struggle with).
